Y-Care (South East Queensland) Inc. has established a new branch of its charitable operations, 'YMCA Logan City Youth Services'. As part of the Brisbane YMCA's commitment to providing relevant youth-related services, it has committed ongoing funding through its Benevolent Program to establish and run 'The Shed'.

The Shed aims to provide marginalized and ‘at risk’ young people with a safe environment where volunteers from the community will support and encourage them to participate in a range of activities.

The Shed will be offering two main streams of activities. One stream will be trade skill related, and will include automotive and small motor repairs, metal art and sculpture, welding, boat building and wood work.

The other stream will relate to ‘soft skills’, and will include but not be limited to an extensive range of arts and crafts, music (playing instruments, event management and promotion), dance, jewellery making, literacy and numeracy, computers and much more.

The Shed has received a high level of support and commitment from local volunteers, local businesses, government, and community organizations.
