Format & Rules of play for the day

4 Ball Ambrose - Team Format

• The Ambrose tournament will be played in teams of four. 
• The maximum handicap in this ambrose team event is 24 for men and 36 for women.
• The team selects a captain on the tee (usually the lowest hadicaped golfer to be the marker). 
• The players then each play a shot from the tee and proceed to their ball. 
• The captain or team members as a whole decide on the best-positioned ball and the other players retrieve their balls.
• The player whose ball was chosen has the first shot and then each remaining player places their ball within one club length of the spot, but no nearer the hole, and plays their next shot in the order originally decided. This procedure continues irrespective of whether the ball is on the fairway, in the rough or in a hazard, until the play reaches the green.
• On the green, the best position is again decided upon and marked. Each player then places their ball within a card length of this spot and has one putt in turn. They must not putt out, but each ball position must again be marked and the procedure repeated until a ball is holed, or a score cannot be bettered.
• The card is marked as for a single stroke round and the lowest score (minus the Team Handicap) wins the competition.
• It is important to note that every player must have their handicap marked on the card.
• Only one score is kept for the entire team, regardless of the number of members.
• The Team Handicap is calculated by adding those of all players and dividing the total by 8. 
• The Net Score is calculated by subtracting the Team Handicap from the Gross Score.
• Longest/straightest drive holes will be Hole #7 & Hole #18
• Nearest the pin prizes on all 3 x Par 3's (Hole #3 / Hole #6 / Hole #12)
• Best approch shot on Hole #4 (Par 4) & Hole #17 (Par 4)
• Betting holes are on the 6th & 12th holes (Par 3's)
  Object: To hit the green in regulation from your tee shot. (The ball must come to rest on the putting surface from your tee shot.)
  - Maximum of $20 bet per golfer per betting hole
  - Odds for golfers with a handicap of 19 or greater (1-1)  
  - Odds for golfers with a handicap of 18 or less (5-10)
  - Odds for ladies (2-1)
