Youth Benevolence
Youth benevolence programs aim to improve the lives of young people in disadvantaged circumstances by providing developmental activities to assist them in overcoming despair and helplessness.
The young people’s personal development will focus upon the building of confidence and self-esteem, and allow them to connect with their peers and community.
Skills learnt will empower the young people to create programs to respond to the benevolence issues they investigate.
Our Objectives
The programs will target and engage young people in high-need areas such as youth homelessness, youth suicide, mental health and substance abuse.
These areas have major influences upon youth suffering from misfortune and destitution, and the research and projects developed will assist the provision of relief from destitution, poverty, suffering and distress.
The objectives are to
- Develop resources and programs to support community benevolence issues with the aim to alleviate disadvantage, poverty, destitution and distress primarily amongst young people.
- Assist the personal development of young people in necessitous circumstances through their participation in peer research and youth benevolence projects.
- Improve the young people’s self esteem and confidence through their participation in the research and project development.
The strategies to reach the objectives are :
Y-Care (South East Queensland) Inc. will conduct three peer research projects a year that will investigate issues affecting young people from necessitous circumstances.
The knowledge gained by the young people during the research process will empower them to take action to instigate strategies to alleviate the necessitous circumstances they are researching.
Seed projects that the young people will personally undertake to directly benefit their community through the alleviation of disadvantage and distress.
